CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES

Well, it doesn’t always happen like this but last week we provided flowers for a christening and what a celebration it was. The planning was fairly simple and straight forward. The only difficulty was getting trees for the home, which would be dramatic enough to set the stage for the party.

The house was decorated to the nines and it was spectacular.  The guests were welcomed into the house by way of a tree-lined, red carpet walkway. It led them from the front door to the outdoor tent where they would enter a magical environment created to celebrate the christening of Little Elizabeth. A lot of planning went into the event and you could tell because every detail had been considered.
The flowers on the tables were perfectly designed to complement the table setting. They were white hydrangeas and white roses with few greens in a low silver mercury bowl. The linen was sheer pale pink organza and silver candlesticks were placed on either side.  The formal table setting added to the ambiance.
There were several other floral arrangements placed all around, and each of them was all white flowers. They complemented the adjacent areas of the party. Several were in the cocktail area and bar and the others adorned the buffet and food stations.
The tent was beautiful and in spite of the uncooperative weather there was no way to dampen the spirit of the occasion.  It was a magnificent celebration for a very special little girl.

Wednesday Wedding: Simple Works

A few of the weddings for which we have provided flowers have not been elaborate but simple. I liked the choices that the brides made and the flowers worked well for them. Sometimes the flowers are a matter of their bride’s budget and sometimes it is strictly what they want. In these cases, the flowers represented the brides really well.

Kate came from New Orleans and we were able to plan the wedding in one visit. Her vision was clear and she wanted flowers that were
uncomplicated. She chose candle holders and a container that was not traditional. Instead of candles we placed roses in them. There were several different styles - all simple.

Stephanie on the other hand wanted all white flowers. After many months of indecisiveness she finally went back to her original choice of white callas. She only varied from the theme with the boutonnieres for the men which were very organic and from the garden.

The table centerpieces were just callas and her bouquet was the same. I liked the simplicity and so did she. In the end, Stephanie was really happy. Any flowers that were more complicated would not have been right for her.
The one thing that I have learned about wedding flowers  is that there are no right choices. Flowers are wonderful as long as the bride if happy with the selection she makes.  Quite simply, flowers are beautiful and they make people happy.
